Tell us About Yourself​

Hi! My name is Lauren and I’m from… everywhere! I can’t really define where I’m from because I’ve lived in a bunch of different places including NJ, CA, Seoul, Seattle, and Georgia to name a few. I consider myself to be pretty extroverted and independent due to moving so often. There are several things that I love to do. First, music has always been part of my life. I learned to sing and play the piano since 5, and they have always been part of my life. I used to sing classical music like opera or musicals, but now I mainly sing pop songs for fun. Secondly, I love physical activities. I played varsity basketball in high school and did competitive swim until middle school. Third, I’m a big big foodie. When I eat lunch I think about what I should eat for dinner. One of the biggest reasons why I like to work out is to stuff my stomach with good food. Lastly, I like trying new things. Every time I moved to a new environment, I found myself getting into new things. Although it is difficult in the beginning, it eventually becomes one of the things that I enjoy and miss. For example, I learned boxing over this summer! I also enjoy spending time with kids. I have two younger siblings who are 4 years and 9 years younger than me. As a first child, I am accustomed to taking care of the younger ones and being responsible for them. My siblings and my parents now live in South Korea. The last time I lived with them was in 2020 in Georgia. After they left, I lived with a host family who are very much like a family to me now. Living with a family who is from a totally different background than me (Cocasian, southern family) helped me form a wider understanding of different cultures. Last but not least, I am a Christian, and I hope to show love and care to more people around me.
