Kristina's College & Career Goals

- I like to dance, where I've danced since late middle school. - I also like to play Chess, where I haven't really improved my skills since sophomore year of high school. - I also take interest in cooking, and I am hoping to learn more recipes! - Rarely, I would vlog myself with my friends and edit the videos to make them more funny (I wouldn't post any videos, but I would keep them for memories) - I used to journal a lot but haven't had the chance to keep doing it. Hopefully, I am able to keep up with it!

Long-term: Professionally, I hope to be able to obtain a good career and be satisfied with where I am at. More specifically, I see myself being a wealth manager at a bigger firm or company like Bank of America, PWC, PNC, JPMorgan, and/or BNY Mellon. I also hope to live in the east coast in a suburban or city neighborhood. Personally, I hope to gain financial literacy to help my parents in managing their funds as well. I also would hope to have my life figured out, and become financially stable. Short Term: I hope to find a community at CMU and make meaningful friendships. I also hope to secure some internships throughout my semesters, and also improve on my dance skills. I also hope to work on more projects in different clubs and programs to make an impact on my community.

questions!

What do you look for in a potential big sister? (personality traits, type of relationship, dynamic)

I hope that I can find a sister who is authentic, where they can be themselves around me! I value having deep connections, and hope to be comfortable and be myself around my big. I'm also looking for someone who is emotionally understanding, and can connect with me through shared experiences or empathy. I also like to have a sister who can banter and joke around with me to match my energy! Additionally, the relationship I'd like to have with my sister is someone who I can rely on, as well as be someone who I could just shoot a random message to throughout the day. Overall, I hope to connect with a sister who can engage, have fun, and be understanding!

who do you look up to?

I look up to a lot of people in my life, but nobody in specific. I think I admire those around me, especially students in Tepper who strive to become better versions of themselves. It inspires me to work harder and explore beyond my circumstances. I start to challenge myself with new opportunities and learn more from others’ experiences. I believe this comes from the act of comparison. Although it can be toxic at times, it can be a strength of mine where I use my comparisons to help improve myself and grow out of my comfort zone.

What kind of personalities do you get along with?

I grew up and befriended those with diverse personalities, so I believe that I can get along with everyone. However, I get along best with someone who can relate to me easily and match my energy. More specifically, I get along with those who share similar experiences as me, such as our childhood upbringings, interests, school experiences, and etc. For me, it becomes fun and engaging to have conversations with those who relate to me as we can continue to help each other grow and build on ourselves. However, I have gotten to know different types of people, and I hope to continue doing so to expand my bubble!

What are three qualities that you look for in friends?

1. Authenticity: I value someone who is able to be themselves when around me!
2. Accountability: Someone who is able to take accountability for their mistakes and learn to grow from it.
3. Humor: I enjoy being with friends who can make me laugh!

How do you best feel supported? (by friends, family, teachers, etc.)ember Process for Kappa Phi Lambda?

I feel best supported when I’m with my friends who can have crash outs like me. I like when our synergy matches, and so when we all begin stressing at the same time, I feel supported. I also feel best supported when talking to my professors, as they're adults who have lived and experienced a lot. I believe that getting advice from them is incredibly valuable, and I hope to keep applying their insights into mine.

What is something you're proud of?

Something that I am proud of is being able to slowly adapt to CMU life. During fall semester, I was incredibly homesick and had nights where I cried about missing my family. However, my spring semester had became better in comparison to fall. I started becoming occupied with different obligations, and I started to ease my way into college. I began to adjust, where I am not as homesick as I was before. This is something I am proud of because it marks an achievement of growing and stepping into a new chapter of my life.

What do you hope to gain from the New Member Process for Kappa Phi Lambda?

I hope to gain a community from Kappa Phi Lambda (KPL), where I have a network of sisters who are supportive and caring. I also hope to learn more about the members at KPL and their journeys at CMU. Not only will I have the opportunity to connect with the sisters, but also be able to apply their experiences into my college journey. I am also hoping to learn more about what the members do in KPL, and how I could contribute as well. Overall, I hope to be able to have a memorable college life making memories with new people.
