Sophie's College & Career Goals

My primary interests are music and fashion. These interests allow me to express myself which is something I’m passionate about. I believe that I have a strong sense of self, and I think putting energy towards these interests has helped me develop this since they encourage me to feel like myself.

My goals in college are to become mentally closer to my interests as well as to develop close relationships with people I trust. In my future career I hope to work on projects that I am passionate about as well as to successfully continue being involved in both of my majors.

What do you look for in a potential big sister? (personality traits, type of relationship, dynamic)

I would want a big sister that I feel very comfortable confiding to and someone I can share interests in everyday life such as food and fashion. I would want to be able to spend a lot of time with them and feel supported by them.

who do you look up to?

I look up to my studio professor a lot because he lives the dream job of many aspiring musicians–a concert musician as well as a college professor with a studio. Alongside this, what I really admire is that he continues his passions for music outside of performance which I find inspiring because of the current BXA degree I am pursuing. He currently does work to develop piano technology because he studied CS in his undergraduate, and because of this, he encourages his studio students to continue with their non-music interests with mine being biology. Moreover, I find him to be a truly genuine and humble person which makes me admire his character as well.

What kind of personalities do you get along with?

I think I get along with personalities that also respond emotionally to things because I think based on how I feel. I also realized that I typically get along with people who are more introverted because really extroverted people can overwhelm me sometimes.

What are three qualities that you look for in friends?

I look for friends that are compassionate, introspective, and open-minded.

What do you hope to gain from the New Member Process for Kappa Phi Lambda?

I feel the most supported by my immediate friends.

I’m proud of my empathy.

I mainly hope that I will grow to feel very close with the other people participating in the new member process. I additionally want to learn more about the history of the sorority and how it came to be the program it is today. I am really excited for the sister dates, and I hope that I will gain a stronger understanding and connection to what sisterhood means.
