Carolyn's College & Career Goals

i love thrifting and collecting jewelry and shoes, trying new cafes, and listening to music (i LOVE music). i spend a lot of time with friends, whether that’s cooking/baking together, hanging out and being straight bums, or doing something spontaneous (ex: we drove to ohio once). exploring things is def a passion of mine. i also play the guitar and really enjoy having creative outlets just for fun, like painting. i play volleyball, run, climb, work out, and like being out and about. also, i LOVE LOVE LOVE rotisserie chicken. number one passion fr

in college, my main goal is to grow as a person while making the most of the people and opportunities around me. that means learning as much as i can (especially about myself), staying curious, and being intentional about the communities i’m part of. i want to build strong lifelong friendships and try things i’m unsure about. in the longer term, i hope college helps me become more confident in who i am and what i care about, both academically and personally. in life, my goals are pretty simple at the core. i want to live a life that feels balanced and connected. i care a lot about relationships/friendships and want to be someone who shows up all the time for the people around me and for the people i love. career wise, i want something that allows me to build and create and has a positive impact beyond just myself. right now, im locked in on swe, but who knows what this will evolve into. ultimately, i hope my work aligns with my values and gives me the freedom to continue growing and giving back in meaningful ways.

Carolyn's Favorite Things in Life

i love music, reading, shopping, eating good food, and i loveeeee my dog <3, but my favorite things in life are really the friendships i get to experience and the people i surround myself with. the moments that mean the most to me are usually the simple ones like long conversations, shared meals, laughing over nothing, or just spending time together. those relationships are what make everything else in life feel fuller and more meaningful to me. other than that, let's see... my favorite movie is probablyy the greatest showman but i don't watch a lot of movies. i really enjoy self-help books ngl, i've been trying to get my hands on a copy of 'things no one taught us about love'. my favorite foods are def rotisserie chicken for one, and strawberries and blueberries (fruit in general!) and my mom's cooking. honestly if u knew me youd know i'd eat ANYTHING though, protein on TOPP. some of my FAV artists oat (even though i've been discovering a lottt more new artists recently): jeremy zucker, daniel caesar, the marias, lizzy mcalpine, hot take but HIGHKEY keshi, cas, and more!

questions!

What do you look for in a potential big sister? (personality traits, type of relationship, dynamic)

i’d want a big who’s genuine and easy to be around. literally just a chill guy. i hope to be able to talk to her about anything without it feeling forced, whether that’s serious stuff or just random everyday things. i know relationships like these usually take time, but there ARE some people that just click. more than anything, i’m hoping for someone who feels like a real friend (and big sister!).

who do you look up to?

i look up to different people in my life for different reasons. some of my friends inspire me with how outgoing and confident they are, and i admire how easily they connect with others. i have friends who genuinely don’t care what other people think, and watching them live so freely has taught me a lot. i also really admire people who are incredibly considerate or effortlessly funny, and those qualities make such a difference in how people feel around them. this is generic but i really do look up to my mom the most, especially for her patience and kindness. the way she shows up for my sister and i with so much care and understanding is something i really hope to carry with me.

What kind of personalities do you get along with?

i tend to get along best with people who are easygoing and are good conversationalists. i love people who make it easy to talk, even just about random everyday things. having shared values or common interests also really helps, since it makes connections feel more natural and easy to build.

What are three qualities that you look for in friends?

honesty, loyalty, and a good sense of humor. i value people who are genuine and communicative, who show up for the people they care about, and who don’t take themselves or everything in life too seriously.

How do you best feel supported? (by friends, family, teachers, etc.)ember Process for Kappa Phi Lambda?

i feel most supported when people are intentional and considerate. simple things like checking in, listening without trying to fix everything, and being consistent really mean a lot to me. i appreciate open communication and knowing that i can be honest about how i’m feeling without being judged. usually this comes from my friends.

What is something you're proud of?

i’m proud of the relationships i’ve built and the way i show up for the people in my life. i’ve put a lot of intention into being a good friend and creating spaces where people feel understood and supported. over time, i've grown through new experiences and i am learning to trust and love myself, and that’s something i’m really proud of.

What do you hope to gain from the New Member Process for Kappa Phi Lambda?

i hope to gain a real sense of community through the new member process, a group of people i can fall back on, grow with, and honestly just share life with. i want friendships that are genuine and everlasting. i want to go on adventures together, spend time together, do nothing together, or do everything together. i’m excited to learn from the women around me and build connections that go farrr beyond college
