Tell us About Yourself
I was born in the bay area, even though I ended up living in Taiwan for almost my whole life because I moved to Taiwan during kindergarten when my parents got tired of living in the US. I still miss the bay area sometimes, like how pretty it is and the great weather, and I miss Taiwanese food all the time. By the time I moved to Taiwan, my chinese was already bad enough that I had to go to an international school that spoke mostly english, so I went to an american education style school filled with ABCs and people of similar background as me. So my chinese never got any better, and people are still surprised when they find out I lived in Taiwan but have broken chinese. During middle school, I started exploring tech. My dad taught me to code because he thought i wasted too much time playing video games, and i also joined robotics club, where i started getting exposed to the “women in stem” scenario where i couldnt find other girls in the room. I also started getting really competitive with math, so i would practice competitive math whenever i could. In high school I was doing a bunch of robotics and was really grindy all the time, so I came to college with the goal of taking a tiny step away from academics and enjoying life and exploring instead.
